The easiest way to get to us is to book with Luxair or VLM. Both fly out of London City and into Luxembourg City. Luxair also flies out of Gatwick and Heathrow.
Ticket prices go up at least one month before departure so best to book early.
We live about 15-20 minutes from the airport by car (if you are hiring a car). Taxis from the airport to Nittel or Trier will cost about €50.
An alternative is to fly with Ryan Air from Stansted to Frankfurt-Hahn. Frankfurt-Hahn (this is not Frankfurt city) is about an hour from where we live. There is a cheap (currently €5) bus service available to Trier or Luxembourg. If you take the Luxembourg bus you can get out in Wasserbillig - a small town just 10 minutes from Nittel (best ask Rob for a description of where you get dropped off... ;)
If you fly into Frankfurt then the drive will be 2 hours. It could well be easier just to get a connecting flight to Luxembourg City.
It's actually quite easy to drive from London to here. The total journey time is about 6 hours (depending on traffic).
The Eurostar car train from Folkstone takes just 35 minutes and you arrive in Calais. The drive from Calais to here is very easy - just 2 or 3 roads. Check Mappy or Michelin for alternatives.
You can also travel by the Eurostar . If you book far enough in advance the train is about £79 from London to any station in Belgium (i.e. journey up to the last station before the border is included in your Eurostar ticket). I think travel onto Luxembourg (on the same train) should be about £12 (see seat61 for details ).
Thanks to Mr Mc Kenny for this info. He loves the train. As he says, "[it's] a bit longer than flying, but easier to get to the terminal (for Londoners), less queueing, intimate body searching and carbon. More walking about and using toilets that are wider than your body".
